4 month check up

We have had a busy couple days! Caleb had his 4 month check up Friday afternoon, it went really well. He weighs 15 lbs 14 oz and he is 25 1/4 inches long. That is in the 70th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for height. I expected him to be bigger, since he's always been in the 90th percentiles for both. I guess he is starting to level off or something..maybe he won't be so huge like we thought!! He is exactly where he's supposed to be developmentally and his doctor thinks he is doing great. He got 4 shots again and those were not fun. He was pretty fussy that night and has developed a cold, too, which is keeping him (and me!) from sleeping well. Hopefully that clears up soon. His doctor said we can start solids whenever Caleb is ready, but no rush...we'll probably start with some rice cereal soon.

Saturday we visited a friend of mine and her two kids, that was fun for both of us! Caleb and my friend's son, Reuben, are the same age, in fact they were due on the same day but Reuben came a few days early and Caleb came a few days late. Then we visited Grandma and Grandpa's...my Uncle Kenny and Aunt Kathy were visiting there as well, and my Aunt Deb stopped by too! Caleb really was interested in Ollie, he was watching any movement he would make. He does this to Kitty at home, too.

On Sunday we went to watch Auntie Laura play volleyball, Caleb was so interested in all the activity. It was nice to see family. My mom's surgery has been bumped up to February 6th so that is great, she won't have to wait too much longer. We also rescheduled Caleb's baptism so my mom will be more recovered (it was going to be in February). We pushed it back to June 10th so that Angela, Caleb's godmother, will be home from France and can make it. I'm so glad we were able to work that out for the best for everyone!

4 months old!

Caleb is 4 months old today! Our little guy is growing up. Last night he rolled from belly to back for the first time, now he can roll both directions! He just looks amazed that he can do that now.

We've all recovered from our illnesses too...I had a cold this week but it's getting better now. Yuck! I suppose we'll be getting stuff all the time now from daycare.

Now my mom is going to be having surgery soon on her hip. She had it replaced over 10 years ago and now one of the 'parts' has become loose. She can't really get around well until it's fixed, and they can't get her surgery done until February 13th! Needless to say, she is bummed. Hopefully it will be worth it and she'll be relatively pain-free once it's all done with. The surgery/recovery are not expected to be as bad as her other surgeries, so that' s good!!

I really need to upload some new pictures of Caleb, I'll try to do that soon!

Ughh..the flu :(

We had our first bout of the flu as a family this past weekend. It was not fun! Caleb started out Thursday and Friday of last week having a little diarrhea. I didn't think much of it..but on Saturday Marshall was very sick! I decided to bring Caleb to my parents to visit and he stayed the night with them. He ended up puking all over Grandpa while he was there, but then he seemed fine, didn't show any other symptoms of being sick. I was planning on getting Caleb at Laura's volleyball game Sunday but middle of the night Saturday, I woke up sick as well! Marshall and I stayed in bed all day Sunday and Caleb ended up staying with Grandma and Grandpa until Monday. It ended up working out well, my mom and Laura were home that day anyway and it would've been a challenge for Marshall and me to watch him while we were puking! We are all better now, except my dad and Joey got the bug this week! Oops! It sure was contagious!

Marshall is back to working full-time now this week, still going to physical therapy for his ankle twice a week for at least a couple more weeks.

Caleb is such a good boy!

Caleb's made it through his first couple days of daycare with flying colors! I am just amazed at what a good little guy he has been. After dropping him off this morning I stopped to chat with the center's director, she said the teachers just love having Caleb there and wish all their babies would be as easy going as he is! That is so great to hear. One of the teachers told me Caleb was just talking up a storm yesterday. I love that he is having a good time there.

I think he'll be getting his first tooth soon, for awhile now he's been drooling a lot but he's really chomping down on stuff now! His hands or fingers are always in his mouth, and he's gotten a hold of our fingers too and doesn't just suck on them, he is chewing! Hopefully he won't get too crabby when it's finally time for that tooth to show up.

Caleb at 3 1/2 months!

Caleb is about 3 1/2 months old now! He has gone through a lot of "firsts" in the past couple weeks. Last week we went to North Dakota for Marshall's grandpa's funeral. It was Caleb's first long car ride and first time out of Minnesota. He was SUCH a little trouper, he did great in the car and was such a good boy the whole time we were there. We drove to Bismarck first and spent the night at Marshall's dad's house, we also stayed there Saturday on our way home. Caleb got to spend time with Papa and Grandma Mari. We stayed in Minot at a hotel for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. It was the first time Caleb met his Great-Grandma Erdman, Great-Uncle Roger, Uncle Chris....and lots of other relatives. We spent a lot of time with Marshall's family, Caleb's Grandma Karen, Grandpa George and Aunt Chelsea were there too.

Caleb also started rolling over!! He is a little rolly-polly now! He has only gone from back to belly so far. As soon as you put him on his back he flips right over! Marshall and I were trying to get him to roll to his back when he was laying on his belly, he wasn't interested in that but kept trying to scoot around, almost like he was trying to figure out crawling! He's gonna be a wild man. Besides that he is just SO much more active now, always looking around, grabbing at everything. It's just amazing to watch him grow and change every day.

Today is Caleb's first day at DAYCARE! I'm so nervous about it still. Marshall had a doctor's appointment yesterday and finally got the 'ok' to return to work. Part time for this week, full time next week. His ankle is healing great! Marshall and I both dropped off Caleb this morning, I know he'll be just fine but I can't help worrying about my little man. I'm glad Marshall will be the one to drop him off their most days, I'd much rather pick him up and see his smiling face, rather than have to leave him there! I called to check on him already of course and the teacher in the infant room said he's doing great, not fussing at all! That's a relief.

I'm posting some pictures of our little Vikings fan and of Caleb playing with his daddy. He thinks he is just so funny!

Happy 2007!

Happy New Year! What a crazy start to 2007 we've had. On New Year's Eve Marshall and I went to the Vikings game and my parents watched Caleb. We got back to their house and it was just starting to snow like crazy. Joey and Stephanie were on their way to a party in St Cloud and had to turn around in Elk River because the snow was so bad. Marshall, Caleb, and I ended up stranded in the cities!! It was okay though, we had a few drinks and played games with Joey, Stephanie, their friend, Katie, and Laura.

We also got some bad news that day as well. Marshall's grandpa passed away the afternoon of New Year's Eve. He had been diagnosed with lung cancer right around Thanksgiving. Marshall has always been really close to his grandparents, so this was pretty hard for him. We left January 2nd for North Dakota and we were there until January 7th.

I included some pictures of Caleb from right around New Year's, with grandpa and just hanging around at home. Kitty likes to watch Caleb taking a bath, as you can see! What a goofy cat.
