Caleb's 12 month check up

Yesterday Caleb went to the doctor for his 12 month well-child visit. He now weighs 24 lbs 2 oz and he's 30 3/4 inches tall. He had to get 5 shots and a finger prick, but he did so good! Thankfully Daddy was there to hold him for the shots. His doctor thought he was doing just great! He has a little cough, but it's just a cold and we'll have to wait it out. We're going to start whole milk pretty soon, so no more formula!


Caleb's birthday was Monday, so our little boy is now ONE YEAR OLD! We had to reschedule Caleb's birthday party due to the death of my Grandpa, Caleb's great-Grandpa. Caleb's birthday ended up being a sad day for our family, remembering Grandpa and saying goodbye, but at least we were all together and Caleb won't remember spending his birthday in that way. We are looking forward to celebrating his birthday this coming Saturday instead.

Busy Busy...

Caleb is getting into EVERYTHING these days!! He's recently discovered the bookshelf, kitty's food, and the toilet! Last night he got to open his first birthday present, it came in the mail from a friend of mine. Of course the tissue paper was the best part of the gift, according to Caleb! Tomorrow he has a check up with his ENT doctor and the audiologist. I'm hoping everything is ok with his ears. Saturday is Caleb's birthday party!!! I'm really excited about it, I know he'll have lots of fun. One year ago yesterday was my due date so I've been remembering how agonizing this week was last year. I worked right up until September 22nd and that next day went into labor..and Caleb arrived September 24th and 3:46am. Being overdue was not fun but it was of course all worth it in the end.

Caleb has new shoes!!

You can see Caleb's new shoes in the first pictures..of course, he wouldn't cooperate and take a cute picture for me! Grandma and Grandpa bought him his first pair of good shoes since he is busy walking all over the place.

Last weekend we went to a bridal shower for Caleb's Auntie Stephanie. Caleb came with me to see all his great-aunties and cousins. It was a lot of fun and Caleb loved playing with everyone. Next weekend we have another bridal shower but Caleb is going to stay with Grandpa instead...he insists on having some babysitting time!! Caleb also has a cold right now..hopefully it clears up soon.

Almost 1...

Caleb is going to be a birthday boy in a few weeks!! This time last year I was anxiously awaiting any signs of labor...I ended up waiting a long time for it to finally happen! Caleb is changing so much practically every day. He is really like a toddler now, not a baby! He is walking and running all over the place. His favorite thing to play with is a ball and he loves to tell you 'ball' very frequently! He also loves to pretend he is on the phone or play with any remote he can get his hands on. Kitty is his best friend, and she tolerates him pretty well...although Caleb's version of petting is more like hitting! He loves to say or yell 'dada' and 'daddy'..and he says 'mama' when he is cranky and whiny! That figures!


We have been going back and forth when it comes to sleeping. He had a couple of really great nights and now he has a cold again so his sleeping at night is not so great...but still better than before the ear tubes were put in. I guess there is just no way to avoid the germs at daycare.
