Dilan goes to the Farm!

Last weekend our family went up to the farm in Osakis, with Dilan, the German student. She's leaving already in a couple days..that time went by so fast! She's been so busy that we've barely had any time with her, so it was really nice to have her up at the farm. We drove up Saturday afternoon, after Dilan and Laura got back from Chicago. It was pretty chilly out but Joey made a fire and we sat outside for awhile. Dilan was not thrilled by the bugs..there were a lot of labybugs inside the house, it must be a bad time of the year for the bugs..they were ALL OVER.

Sunday morning Caleb was thrilled to run around outside for HOURS. He loves the farm ("yarm" in Caleb-speak)...all day Saturday before we left he kept saying "I want to go to the YARM!" He had a blast riding on the tractor, following the guys around outside, playing with "Ti Steph"...as long as he was outside he was happy.

Sunday afternoon we all went to my aunt and uncle's dairy farm. Dilan got to see a 'real American' farm, with the barn and cows and everything. Caleb had a blast there. We went inside the barn, saw some baby cows and even got to ride out into the pasture to see a newborn calf. It was a fun experience for those of us not used to farm life!! My cousin's wife and their son, Landon, were at the farm too, so we got to watch Caleb and Landon run around..they were cute together.

October is almost over...

Where is the time going? Before we know it Christmas will be here. At least it has not snowed here yet!

Here are some recent pictures of Caleb. He got his hair cut short again..it seems to suit him well! He is such a good boy at Great Clips, it's amazing. I don't know what happens but he is in a trance during his hair cut. The stylists even remember him now, they just can't belive how well he sits still!

Teething?

Who knew teething could be easy? Last night during our nightly routine of brushing teeth (which has been a battle lately) I discovered that Caleb has been working on his 2 year molars. One is all the way through the gum and the others are coming. I was surprised. It's been awhile since Caleb was teething and he hasn't been complaining about pain at all. I thought by now he'd be able to tell me that his mouth hurt, and he has not said a thing. It must not be bothering him. That's nice! I was expecting the molars to be painful. However, he was always pretty good with teething. We are lucky I guess!

In other family news, my sister's German exchange student, Dilan, is here now! My sister stayed with Dilan and her family in Germany this summer and now Dilan is here in Minnesota for a couple weeks. Caleb has pretty much warmed right up to Dilan. He gives her a hug every day and he knows she lives in Germany. They have a lot of activities planned, mostly with school, so it will be a busy time. We haven't been able to spend much time with Dilan..we had some family over to meet her on Sunday and that was about all we've seen of her so far. This weekend we are going to Osakis, so that should be fun. It will be an experience for her!

Marshall's Birthday!

We are finally done celebrating birthdays at our house! Marshall's birthday was October 3rd. We were able to go out for dinner, just the two of us, to celebrate, and we also went out that night for a drink and met my cousin, Angela, and some of her friends. We had a fun time! On Sunday, we went out for dinner with the entire family, to celebrate both Marshall and Joey's birthdays. Caleb and I had made a birthday cake (yes, I made the cake! It was from a box, but still!) so we had that and Marshall opened gifts. Caleb loved it, of course.

It's fall!

Here are some recent pictures of Caleb...last weekend he enjoyed being outside for awhile in the cool weather...drawing with sidewalk chalk and helping Grandma in the garden! He is also loving his new motorcyle toy and all his firetruck stuff!

Uncle Joey's birthday!

We celebrated Uncle Joey's birthday September 28th...just a couple days after Caleb's. That weekend Joey and Stephanie were putting up a new fence at their house, so Marshall and my Dad and others were helping with that all weekend. It was quite a feat, but they finished it late Sunday afternoon. Caleb and I stopped over for lunch during all this and he was so excited to be hanging out with the 'boys'. He helped Daddy stir cement and he would've loved to stay there all day, I'm sure. He was so excited to give Uncle Joey presents and for cake...all day he was bopping around the house pointing out the presents.

More birthday pictures!

Here are a few more pictures from around Caleb's birthday. He is a pro at opening gifts (well, almost..he does take his time!). He's going to be excited at Christmas. This birthday was a huge deal for him...we are having issues now with the birthday stuff being put away. He keeps asking for birthday balloons, cake, etc. Of course Uncle Joey and Daddy had birthdays right after Caleb's..so that kept him going in birthday mode.

Also in this post I included a couple goofy pictures of Caleb. One day there was a newspaper on the chair and he jumped up and started 'reading' it on his own. It was pretty funny! Looks like he's decided he needs to find a job!
